Discharge

Discharge time is 10:00am.  Transport arrangements need to be made ahead of this time.  During your stay, your doctor, nursing staff and if applicable, other healthcare professionals, will help you plan your discharge.  We advise you to arrange for a friend or relative to escort you home.  It is not in your best interest to drive yourself home.

After Care / Community Care

If you require home services, for example a community nurse, home care, or meals on wheels, this can be arranged during your stay.  Please let the nursing staff know as soon as possible, to enable us to make these arrangements prior to your discharge home.

Discharge at Own Risk

You may discharge yourself from hospital at any time.  When taken against the advice of your doctor, early discharge may be detrimental to your health and requires careful consideration.  You are encouraged to discuss the implications of discharge with your doctor and nursing staff.  If you decide to discharge yourself, against advice, you will be required to sign a form disclaiming the hospital responsibility for your action.

Ambulance

Ambulance transport can only be arranged at your doctor’s request, or you will be required to pay the transport fee direct to the Ambulance Service.
